National Farmers’ Day is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of the Fifth Prime Minister of India,Chaudhary Charan Singh and it is an annual observance in various parts of the country to celebrate the contributions of farmers at National level. On the occasion of National Farmers’ day, a free Animal Health Camp was organised by RKMVERI- Faculty Centre for Agricultural Education and Research, Coimbatore in collaboration with ICAR- SAKVK and TamilNadu Animal Husbandry Department,Coimbatore on 23.12.2021 at Kamaraj Nagar, Samichettipalayam village.The animal health camp was inaugurated by Dr.S. Prabhu Kumar Dean, FAR, Dr. Vetrivel VAS Govanoor, Dr. Indhuja, SMS Animal science ICAR- SAKVK and Dr. Karthika, Mr.Suresh, Dr.Sureshkumar, Dr. Ashok Kumar,Dr. Selvam and 49 students (Final year) from RKMVERI-FAR were part of the camp.
This animal health camp mainly focused on Foot and Mouth Disease Vaccination, Artificial Insemination,Pregnancy Diagnosis, Infertility Treatment, General Treatment, Deworming and Newcastle Disease Vaccination for birds.
A total of 755 animals were benefited during the camp out of which 179 cattle, 217 sheep, 262 goats, 50 poultry, 46 dogs and one horse were brought by the farmers of Samichettipalayam village.
As a preventive measures of mastitis, anti mastitis powders were distributed and advised accordingly to the farmers. TANUVAS area specific mineral mixture was also distributed and advised as a treatment for the infertile cows.At the closing ceremony, as a token of appreciation and encouragement, prize was distributed to the farmers based on the body condition scores of their he if ercalves.
