1. Seminars and Orientation Programs
Faculty of Disability Management and Special Education (FDMSE), RKMVERI (Deemed University), being a premier institute in the field of man power development in special education, is actively engaged in conducting research in special education, training programmes and consultancy. The other academic activities include national and international seminars, symposia, conferences, workshops, Continuous Rehabilitation Education (CRE) programmes, short-term training programmes, setting a forum for scholarly exchange etc. FDMSE trains and sensitizes SSA teachers, IEDSS teachers, air force personnel, general educators, doctors, policy makers, planners, police departments, high officials through its in-service training programmes as and when required.
- FDMSE organizes pre-service and in-service training programmes for man power development in the field of special education,
- It conducts and promotes research in various aspects of special education and allied areas,
- It conducts orientation, refresher and CRE programmes for professional working in the field of education and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities,
- It fosters networking among the institutes and organization having identical aims, and,
- It offers guidance and consultancy to professionals and other educational institutes which are planning to initiate their services in the field of special education and disability management.
- Various schools, colleges and institutions in and around Coimbatore city visit FDMSE to gain general knowledge about disability.
2. Guru Puja Exhibition
The public celebration of the birthday of Bhagavan Sri Ramakrishna, popularly known as Guru Puja, is the most important annual cultural activity of the Vidyalaya. The day-long celebration, observed on the first Sunday of every year, includes bhajans, talks by eminent personalities, drama, educational exhibition, music and cultural programmes. The highlight of the function is the Virat Puja, i.e. feeding of about 50,000 people at noon.
All the institutions of Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya participate in Educational Exhibition organized on this occasion annually. FDMSE chooses a particular disability related theme every year. Because of huge crowd pouring in on this day great awareness is created in public regarding the issues related to disability.
3. Journal of Disability Management and Special Education (JODYS)
FDMSE publishes bi-annual peer reviewed Journal named “Journal of Disability Management and Special Education (JODYS)” (ISSN- 2229-5143). Eminent Special Educators and others in the field of Special Education contribute to the journal. For contributing a paper to JODYS or for subscription of the it please email to . The journal publishes original articles in the area of Disability Management and Special Education. It includes evidence based research articles, opinion and concept papers, book reviews, success stories of persons with disability, news about conferences, letters to the editors and forthcoming events.
