Tamil Nadu Para Sitting Cricket Association & Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University, Coimbatore Campus, jointly organized State Level Paraplegic Cricket (Sitting and Standing), at Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya play grounds, on 23rd & 24th July, 2016.
Totally 120 paraplegic cricket players of eight teams participated in this tournament. In the inaugural function, Rtn. K.A. Kuriachan, Past District Governor – Rotary District 3201, Coimbatore, was the chief guest and delivered the chief guest address, Rev. Swami Abhiramananda Maharaj, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, Coimbatore, presided over the function. Dr. S. Alagesan, Professor and Head, Welcomed the gathering. Dr. M.S. Nagarajan, Senior Sports Manager, Special Olympics Asia Pacific International, briefly introduced about the sitting paraplegic cricket and released for the first time official rule book for the game.

Mr. P.R.G. Arun Kumar, MLA – Constituency of Coimbatore (North), AIADMK Party, was introduced to the players and he witness the match played between Kanniyakumari Vs Tirunelveli (Sitting). Mr. RK. Rajan, Senior Advocate, Coimbatore Court, was also introduced to the players and he witnessed the match. Mr. Daniel Victor, Chief Auditor, VITAE International was introduced to the players and he also witnessed the matches and encouraged the players.
The valedictory function started at 05.00 pm in the GAPEY University prayer hall. Rev. Swami Abhiramananda Maharaj, Administrative Head, Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University, Coimbatore Campus, presided over the function. Lion R. Karana Boopathi, LCIF – Coordinator, Lions Club of Coimbatore was the chief guest and delivered the chief guest address. Dr. PJ. Sebastian, Professor, Welcomed the gathering. Dr. MS. Nagarajan, Senior Sports Manager, Special Olympics Asia Pacific, presented a brief report on Sitting Paraplegic and Standing Cricket tournament. Trophies, Cash award and certificates were distributed to the participants and the winners by the dignitaries. We appreciate and congratulate all the participants.
