FDMSE, RKMVERI – Coimbatore Campus organized a two-day RCI approved offline Continuing Rehabilitation Education (CRE) programme titled Innovative Approaches to Enhance Learning for Children with Special Needs on 13th and 14th March 2026.
On Day 1, the first session on “Understanding Diverse Learners in Special Education” was delivered by Dr. J. Karthika, Post-Doctoral Researcher, The Accessibility Research Centre, IIT Madras, Chennai. The second session on “Executive Functioning Skills: Teaching Strategies” was presented by Dr. S. Parween, Head – Division of VI & HI and Assistant Professor, FDMSE–RKMVERI, Coimbatore. This was followed by a session on “Innovative Literacy Instruction for Diverse Learners” by Ms. S. N. Hamsapriya, Assistant Professor, FDMSE–RKMVERI, Coimbatore. In the afternoon, Mr. L. Samuel Pitchai Raj, Assistant Professor, NIEPVD – Regional Centre, Poonamallee, Chennai, conducted two sessions on “Leveraging Assistive Technology for Learning,” including a hands-on training session. The final session of the day on “Inclusive Physical Education Strategies” was delivered by Dr. S. Akilandeswari, Assistant Director of Physical Education, Anna University, Thoothukudi.
On Day 2, the programme commenced with a session on “STEM Instruction for Diverse Learners” by Dr. J. B. Dheesha, Assistant Professor, FDMSE–RKMVERI, Coimbatore. This was followed by a session on “Collaborative Teaching and Co-Teaching Models” by Dr. Jignya Shah, Assistant Professor, FDMSE–RKMVERI, Coimbatore. The third session on “Therapeutic Integration in Special Education” was delivered by Ms. M. Senthilvani, Assistant Professor, FDMSE–RKMVERI, Coimbatore. In the afternoon, Dr. M. Revathi, Assistant Professor, NIEPVD – Regional Centre, Poonamallee, Chennai, conducted two sessions on “Differentiated Instruction for Diverse Classrooms” and “Positive Behavior Support (PBS) Strategies.” The programme concluded with a session on “Multisensory Teaching Approaches” by Dr. K. Dhanalakshmi, Assistant Professor, FDMSE–RKMVERI, Coimbatore, highlighting practical multisensory techniques to support diverse learners.
A total of 46 participants attended the program. Dr. A. Divyapriya, Assistant Professor, coordinated the event.
