Lecture on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)

A special lecture on ‘Intellectual   Property (IP) Policies and Universities as Research Institutions’was delivered by Mr. Shankar Subbiah, Director and Accessibility Consultant, Agate Infotek Private Limited, Chennai on 21.10.2017.  He highlighted the significant role of Intellectual Property (IP) in education especially in academic instruction and research and development domains of universities and public institutes. This includes IP developed by the individuals in their instructional or learning process as well as by the universities at organisation level and those being used in the daily academic routines. He suggested that higher education institutions require IP policies that encourage ideating minds, foster ownership, ethical use and disseminate their knowledge effectively. All the teaching staff attended the lecture.
