In connection with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD – 2024), the Faculty of Disability Management and Special Education (FDMSE), RKMVERI, Coimbatore Campus, organized a one-day sports meet for persons with disabilities on 23rd November 2024. The event commenced with a prayer song, followed by the inauguration and national flag hoisting by Swami Buddhidananda Maharaj, Assistant Administrative Head, FDMSE, RKMVERI.
Ms. K. Suguna Priya, a second-year B.Ed. (ID) student, extended a warm welcome to the gathering. The participants, categorized by age groups and types of disabilities, competed in various events. Ninety-eight (68 – Females & 30 – Males) teacher trainees from the B.Ed., M.Ed., Integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed. (ID) programs, and research scholars actively facilitated the event under the guidance of special educators.s.
A total of 118 (Males – 92 & Females – 26) persons with disabilities (students and employees) from TAT Kalanilayam Middle School, SRKV High School, RKMV Industrial Training Institute (ITI), FDMSE, and the Disabled Trainees Vocational Production and Rehabilitation Centre of Vidyalaya institutions participated enthusiastically. Additionally, recreational games were organized for parents of students with disabilities, with around 60 parents (Mothers of Individuals with Disabilities) eagerly taking part and enjoying the activities.
