The program commenced with a prayer song performed by the student trainees, invoking the blessings of the Holy Trinity. Mrs. M. Senthilvani, Assistant Professor from the Department of H.I., delivered the welcome address. Following this, Mr. A. Anand, Sub Inspector (Technical) at the Cyber Crime Police Station in Coimbatore District, presented a PowerPoint on cybersecurity tips. He demonstrated the complaint portal and shared the Cyber Helpline number.
During the program, Mr. Tommy (Deaf) asked how to register complaints via phone, while Mr. Sathish (Deaf) inquired about the process for deaf individuals with limited education to file written complaints on the portal. Mr. Shaktivel (Deaf) raised a concern about interpreting problems without a Sign Language Interpreter.
In response, suggestions were made, including the implementation of video-call services for the deaf and hiring interpreters. The session was attended by 54 deaf participants (45 male & 9 female), along with faculty and student trainees. It was a new and eye-opening experience for the resource person. The session ended on a positive note with a vote of thanks from Dr. A. Divyapriya, Assistant Professor from the Department of H.I. Mrs. Megha Tiwari, Sign Language Interpreter, facilitated the interpretation, while the MC duties were handled by a student trainee.
