Unified Play Day was celebrated on 01.03.2016. The sports competitions in Football, Bocce, Bumper pool, Volleyball and Throwball for persons with disabilities were inaugurated by Swami Abhiramananda Maharaj, Administrative Head, Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University. A total number of 208 students from 8 special schools participated in the tournaments.

Results:

  1. 5-a-side football (Intellectually Challenged Children)

Boys :  Winner  -Vidhya Vikasini Opportunity School, Thudiyalur,  Runners UP   – FDMSE Special Education Unit, RKMVU, Cbe.

  1. Bocce (Intellectually Challenged Children)

Girls:   Winner  – Vidhya Vikasini Opportunity School, Thudiyalur, Runners UP   – Amrit School of Special Needs, SaibabaKovil.

  1. Volley ball(Hearing Impairment)

Boys : Winner  – Infant Jesus High School,  Runners UP   – TELC High School

  1. Throw ball(Hearing Impairment)

Boys:   Winner – Infant Jesus High School,       Runners UP   – Avinashilingam High School

  1. Bumper pool (Visual Impairment)

Boys :   Winner   – Team A – SRK Vidyalaya High School,  Runners UP   – Team B – SRK Vidyalaya High School

Girls : Winner   – Team B – Avinashilingam High School,   Runners UP   – Team A – Avinashilingam High School.

Unified Play Day began with the march past of the participating children. The following Physical Activities were demonstrated by the intellectually challenged children partnered with the normal children.

  3. Pyramids
  4. Social Group Behaviour
  5. Kolam
  6. Handkerchief Exercises
  7. Hoops
  8. Flag Drills

Sri E.S. Kathir, Chairman & Founder, Kathir Group of Institutions and Sri K.R. Pandian Chief Executive officer, Sharp tools Pvt. Ltd. were the guests of honour, distributed the trophies and inaugurated Psychotherapy Stall and Physiotherapy stall respectively. Swami Abhiramananda Maharaj presided over the function, distributed prizes and inaugurated the other therapy stalls. Swami Hararupanandaji Maharaj inaugurated the play therapy stall.

A total number of 278 students (194 Boys, 84 Girls) from 41 integrated schools, 146 parents and 72 Special education teachers participated in the Unified Play Day. Certificates, Medals and Mementos were distributed to the students.
