The 12th convocation of the Faculties of Disability Management and Special Education (DMSE) and General and Adapted Physical Education and Yoga (GAPEY), Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University, Coimbatore Campus was held at the Venkatakrishnan Indoor Stadium on 9th September 2017.
Swami Atmapriyananda, Vice-Chancellor, RKMVU, welcomed the gathering and explained the growth of the Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University as envisioned by Swami Vivekananda. Swami Divyaprajnanandaji Maharaj, Assistant Administrative Head of FDMSE & GAPEY read the message sent by Swami Suviranandaji Maharaj, Chancellor, Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University, Belur Math, West Bengal. Swami Garishthanandaji Maharaj, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya & Administrative Head of FDMSE & GAPEY delivered the introductory Address.
Dr. A. Santhosh Mathew, IAS, Chairperson, National Council for Teacher Education delivered Dr. Avinashilingam 4th Memorial Lecture titled “Crisis in Teacher Education”. The Guest in Chief of the day, Prof. Virander Singh Chauhan, Chairperson, University Grants Commission, New Delhi delivered the Convocation address.
Monastic members; Members of Vidyalaya Managing Committee; Heads of Vidyalaya Institutions; Faculty members, students of Vivekananda University and parents participated in the function.
Out of 40 candidates who have passed the examinations, 32 graduates received degrees and diplomas from FDMSE (Ph.D.-5; M.Phil-1; M.Ed.-10; B.Ed.-12 & D.Ed.-3; DISLI-1). Out of 129 candidates who have passed the examinations, 97 graduates received degrees and diplomas from GAPEY (Ph.D.-6 ; M.Phil- 6; M.PEd.- 24 ; B.PEd.- 38; D.PEd.-6 &B.Sc-17).
The function ended with National Anthem followed by group photos.
