STATE LEVEL YOGASANA COMPETITION FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES – 2025

 

The State Level Yogasana Competition for Persons with Disabilities – 2025 was successfully organized by the Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute, Faculty of General & Adapted Physical Education and Yoga on 14th February 2025 at the GAPEY Campus. The program commenced with the registration process at 8:00 AM, where athletes, along with their parents/guardians, registered themselves under different categories.

The competition saw enthusiastic participation from athletes with Intellectual Disability, Hearing Impairment, Visual Impairment, and Autism in both boys’ and girls’ categories. The participants were grouped into the following age categories:

  • Under 10 years
  • 11 to 15 years
  • 16 to 18 years
  • Above 18 years

A total of 308 athletes (209 boys and 99 girls) participated in the competition. The athletes represented various special schools from Coimbatore, Salem, and Kanyakumari districts. They showcased their talents in the Yogasana and Suryanamaskar categories as prescribed by the organizers, performing in front of the panel of judges.

The Valedictory Function was graced by Swami Buddhidananda Maharaj, Assistant Administrative Head, RKMVERI, Coimbatore Campus, who served as the Chief Guest and distributed certificates and medals to the winners.

Dr. A. Sathiya Moorthy, Assistant Professor, Faculty of GAPEY, RKMVERI, delivered the welcome address, emphasizing the importance of such competitions in promoting inclusivity and holistic development. Dr. Dibakar Debnath, Assistant Professor, coordinated the Yogasana & Suryanamaskar Competition and presented the event report. The function concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. D. Yuvaraj, Assistant Professor.

The competition was a grand success, providing a platform for athletes with disabilities to exhibit their skills and fostering a spirit of sportsmanship and inclusivity.
