A two-day International webinar on “Understanding Learning Disability – Prospects and Concerns” was held on 22.02.2022 & 23.02.2022

The program was inaugurated on 22.02.2022 with a prayer song in the presence and blessings of Swami Garishthanandaji Maharaj, Administrative Head, RKMVERI-FDMSE.  Dr. Sudha A, Assistant Professor & HoD, Department of Intellectual Disability, RKMVERI-FDMSE welcomed the audience.  The inaugural address was delivered by Shri. Nachiketa Rout, Director, National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities, Chennai. He highlighted the need for early intervention and also, focused to look into the language development of the child at an early age.

Special Address was delivered by Dr. N. Muthaiah, Dean, and RKMVERI-FDMSE. He mentioned that defining and classifying Learning disabilities need to be addressed with accurate boundaries so that appropriate intervention could be planned and executed in line with quality education proposed by Sustainable Developmental Goal, 2030.

Dr.Saumya Chandra, Assistant Professor, RKMVERI-FDMSE proposed a vote of thanks.

In total 205 delegates from all over India and abroad registered for the program. Apart from that all faculty members, research scholars, and teacher trainees of RKMVERI-FDMSE attended the program.

There were Nine Technical sessions and twenty-six paper presentations in the two days of the webinar.  Technical sessions were handled by eminent experts in the field from India and abroad.

The valedictory function of the webinar was held on 23.02.2022.   Dr. Anupam Ahuja, Head, Division of International Relations, NCERT, New Delhi was the chief guest.  She addressed the delegates and highlighted the significance of systematic changes for persons with learning disabilities and the importance of more research in the area.  Feedback was collected from the delegates and the e-certificates were distributed to all the participants.  The program concluded with the national anthem.

The program was streamed through zoom meet and the YouTube channel provided by the RKMVERI CBE.
