National Conference on “Empowering Persons with Visual Impairment for Quality Livelihood through Education and Adapted Physical Education” was organized on 27th and 28th of January, 2017 combinedly by two Faculties of the RKMVU-FDMSE &GAPEY-CBE. It commenced with an inaugural function on Friday 27th January at 10.00 am. Dr. Muthaiah, Hon. Dean, F.D.M.S.E. welcomed the gathering and introduced the theme of the conference. This was followed by the Presidential address by Rev. Swami Abhiramanandaji Maharaj, Administrative Head, RKMVU and the Secretary of SRK Vidyalaya, CBE. The Chief Guest of the Function, Dr. BhushanPunani, Executive Director, Blind People’s Association, delivered the Keynote address; Dr. M.N.G. Mani, CEO, ICEVI, gave the felicitation speech; Dr. S. Alagesan, Professor & Head, RKMVU-GAPEY, proposed the vote of thanks which was followed by the inauguration of the Assistive Technology Stalls for the Empowerment of the Visually Impaired.
The conference concluded with the valedictory function on 28 January 2017 at 3.00 pm. The function was presided over by Br. Paramarthachaitanyaji Maharaj, Asst. Admn. Head, RKMVU-FDMSE, GAPEY & FYCSAR and Sri. Dipendra Manocha, President, Daisy Forum of India was the Chief Guest; Dr. Alagesan, Prof. and Head, RKMVU-GAPEY welcomed the gathering. This was followed by presentation of the report of the two-day conference by Dr. N. Muthaiah, Hon. Dean, RKMVU-FDMSE. The vote of thanks was then given by Dr. S. Parween, Asst. Prof., RKMVU-FDMSE. It was followed by distribution of certificates to the delegates. A total of 123 delegates participated in the conference. 24 scholars (Staff & Students) presented papers on various themes related to the conference in two parallel sessions.
