Gurupuja Exhibition, 2017

Role of Indigenous Toys in Educating Children with Special Needs

The theme selected by Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University, Faculty of Disability Management and Special Education for Gurupuja Exhibition-2017 was “The Role of Indigenous Toys in Educating Children with Special Needs”.
Toys are the natural friends of children. They can be used in teaching and learning process. Indigenous toys play an important role in promoting better understanding about various concepts among children with Visual Impairment, Hearing Impairment, Intellectual Disability, and Learning Disability through Multi sensory approach. Native toys develop a feeling of intimacy and pride about our rich traditional heritage. They are easily available, long standing, cost effective, harmless and eco friendly. The use of indigenous toys in education of children with special needs will pave way for joyful learning experience.
General public, young children, students and staff members of Vidyalaya institutions witnessed our exhibits – a variety of indigenous toys depicting various concepts – all enjoyed and appreciated a lot.
