International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) was observed by the Faculty of Disability Management and Special Education (FDMSE), RKMVERI, Coimbatore Campus on 06.12.2023. The programme commenced with prayer and lighting of Kuthuvilakku. Swami Buddhidananda, Assistant Administrative Head, FDMSE, RKMVERI presented an introductory address and Dr. N. Muthaiah, Dean, School of Rehabilitation and Sports Science gave a special address on the occasion.
Mrs. V. Indirani, Assistant Professor, FDMSE, RKMVERI welcomed the gathering. Heads of other institutions of SRK Vidyalaya also were present in the function. Students with disabilities performed different cultural and literary programmes. Staff members working for persons with disabilities were honoured with mementos. In the concluding session of the programme, prizes and medals were distributed to all PwD’s and prize winners of various sports events. Dr. S. Sukumari, Assistant Professor, FDMSE, RKMVERI proposed a vote of thanks.
In total 151 students with disabilities, 45 employees of PwDs, 65 parents, 39 staff members and 83 teacher trainees attended the programme. The event concluded with the National Anthem.
