In connection with Gurupuja 2019 (Public Celebration of Sri Ramakrishna’s Birthday), FDMSE had participated in various duties like educational exhibition, canteen, main pandal management, programme execution, vocational stall, sale of Vidayalaya publications and utsav accounts on 06.01.2019. The theme of the exhibition was “Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016”. This stall highlighted the important provisions of the act for the benefit of the common masses. The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 is the disability legislation passed by the Indian Parliament. This Act replaces the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunity Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995 and the types of disabilities have been increased from existing 7 to 21. The present act is more comprehensive and provides several advantages for persons with disabilities. Responsibility has been cast upon the appropriate governments to take effective measures to ensure that the persons with disabilities enjoy their rights equally with others. Though the act provides several benefits, the public may not be fully aware of its features and added advantages. This stall highlights the important provisions of the act for the benefit of the common masses. General public, young children, students and staff members of Vidyalaya institutions visited and got benefitted out of it.
