Faculty of General & Adapted Physical Education and Yoga (GAPEY) Inaugurated the Vivekananda Inclusive Sports Complex on 23rd June 2022, an exclusive setup for general and Para sports. In this programme Dr. G.S. Sameeran, I.A.S, Coimbatore District Collector was the chief guest who unveiled the opening stone of the complex.

Dr. G.S. Sameeran, I.A.S, opened the Vivekananda Inclusive Sports Complex by cutting the ribbon and flagging of the exhibition events 100 M guided run, Cricket and Goal ball for Visually Impaired Athletes. Swami Sarvarupanandaji Maharaj opened the Multipurpose Synthetic Court by cutting the ribbon and flagging of the exhibition event wheel chair basketball. The members of the Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Institutions & Rotary club of Coimbatore Metropolis and invited guests witnessed the events. As a part of the function, the sports goods and equipment purchased were displayed and the usages for the persons with disabilities were explained to the dignitaries. The programme was followed by planting forty tree saplings by the chief guest and the invited dignitaries.
In continuation to the official opening of the Vivekananda Inclusive Sports Complex an inaugural function was conducted at GKD Auditorium.

Dr. R. Giridharan, Head of the Department, RKMVERI – GAPEY presented the report of the project in which he explained about how the idea for establishing a state of the art Inclusive sports complex and also presented a short video explaining the chronological development of events of the sports complex depicting the fruitful transformation of the barren land to Vivekananda Inclusive Sports Complex.
Dr. G.S. Sameeran, I.A.S called upon the sports lovers to make the best use of this sports complex and excel in the field of games and sports. He was optimistic that the newly inaugurated sports complex would develop the talent of the youth and push them forward to the national and international arena one day. He also assured that he would support this noble cause personally and will strive to improve the participation of the persons with disabilities in sports.
