Introduction and Infrastructure of FAR

1. Location :

Faculty Centre for Agricultural Education and Research (FAR) was established in August 2014 at Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Campus, Coimbatore as an ‘off-campus’ centre of the

Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute (RKMVERI), Belur Math, Kolkata.  The institution is located 19 Kms from Coimbatore city, on the highway to Ootacamund and is set in a serene environment spread over nearly 300 acres.  The institution is one among the sixteen educational institutions of the Vidyalaya which has grown into a comprehensive and reputed complex catering to the needs of students by way of imparting value-based education, particularly professional-oriented skills in agriculture.  Agricultural education offered in this institution has been formulated to cope up with the present Agricultural scenario.

2. Genesis

Faculty Centre for Agriculture Education and Research (FAR) started in the year 2014. We are also running Institute of Agriculture and Rural Development (IARD) (affiliated to TNAU) which offers Diploma in Agriculture for the past 60 years. This being the case the present Faculty Center has fully furnished basic Infrastructural facilities and other resources.

3. Aims

The new Faculty Center is meant to provide quality agricultural education for a meaningful and self-supporting life to youths and train them to cater to the needs of economically poor and socially underprivileged sections of the society. A unique feature of the courses under this Faculty, which is a common feature of all the courses under the University, is to provide value – based and higher goal-oriented education.
